Let’s get fit, Tulsa! That's the intro you'll find on the Tulsa Million Miles web site. Tulsa Million Miles is a brand-new initiative led by Mayor Kathy Taylor and Mayor’s Fitness Challenge that encourages Tulsans to get fit, one mile at a time. The Tulsa Million Miles web site will help you track your progress and provide you with the support you need to be fitter and healthier. Whether you stay active by walking, running, biking, or swimming, you can use this Web site to track your miles and watch your progress.
The goal of Tulsa Million Miles is to track one million miles and beyond that Tulsans can achieve together. Visit the Web site often to log your miles and share your stories. We can even help you convert miles into calories burned, so you can track your own weight loss goals. Tulsa Million Miles can help you find trail maps, park information, activity guides, and information on upcoming fitness events like runs, walks, and bike rides.
Together with other TBC members, you can do your part to help us log one million miles or more. Just join the Tulsa Bicycle Group after registering on the web site. Join TBC president Richard Hall, past president Derek Swift, secretary Ross Snider and a host of others as we help make Tulsa and Tulsan's healthier, fitter, and happier!

Popular cycling routes construction update Construction image
(Info as of 10/28/2008)

TULSA
36th St from Utica to Lewis
One way (west) during a major water and sewage line project. Expect construction through the end of March.

RIVER PARKS TRAIL Work on bridge along River Trail between 31st and 41st
Pedestrian bridge to 48th (East Bank)
The gravel base is down from 41st to the Pedestrian bridge and the Crow Creek bridge has been installed. The concrete curbs and lighting are in near 31st street. Dirt work is underway from 41st to 48th. The estimated completion date is the end of the year.
53rd St to 71st St (East Bank)
Construction is scheduled to begin in January on this section. No work is scheduled at this time for the section from 48th to 53rd street due to expected impact for the ODOT project to widen I-44.

BIXBY AREA
Bike Path - Memorial to Riverview (added 10/17)
The Bixby bike path has been closed from just east of Memorial to Riverview. The Bixby parks department has cut a ten-foot deep gash through the path in preparation for pouring a concrete culvert to carry storm water from the new recreational facilities under construction at Riverview and 148th Street. Don’t expect the path to reopen any time soon as this is a major project.

SAPULPA AREA
Highway 66 from downtown Salpulpa to Highway 33
This section of road is being widened to four lanes. There's a lot of construction traffic and barrels on the section of road that runs by the golf course, American Legion, and the west edge of town.

** If you know of any construction on cycling routes feel free to contact Ross Snider at ross4@cox.net or 606-1519.
